First Fish on Fly Set

I have been luring for quite sometime now and recently I have been thinking of how I could push myself further....My buddy came up with an idea...He was suggesting that I took out my long forgotten fly set up to fight a sizeable fish...

At first I was appauled by the suggestion but my adventurous spirit suddenly took over the moment I was holding the rod in my hands after much rummaging through my room....I said why not; life should be one filled with adventure and I should push myself to the limits... I quickly packed the stuffs I needed and headed out with my buddy...

Not knowing what I was in for, I just cast the line out and playing around when something pulled with extreme force...My first reaction was "Oucccccch!!"....It took me some time before I realised my fingers were burnt from the line zipping out like flash....haha...It was exilirating as my line peeled and reel was screaming the sound of music...

That was when the dead night filled itself with commotion as my group of friends enjoyed watching uncontrollable emotions and reactions from a newbie who had no freaking idea of what the hell just happened...I was thrown all sorts of comments and instructions as well as being made the joke of the night which added to the atmosphere...It took me a good 10 mins to land the untamed fish that ran like there's no tomorrow...All in all I had a great time with my buddies n they too received a shit load from me when their turn came next...haha...Enjoy the photos!

Hi Guys,
I have just serviced a Ryobi Zauber 3000 for one of my customers and it is covered as below.

Zauber is one of the middle range spinning reels by Ryobi that can be found in Singapore. The price ranges between SGD 100 - 150. This reel is easy to maintain and can be used for luring or general fishing. The specs of this reel is as below under the 3000 size.

Servicing is essential after luring trips in saltwater to clean up salt deposits and foreign particles as well as lubricate essential moving components. This ensures that the parts do not get damaged with constant usage as well as help to reduce the corrosion rate in our humid weather.

Below is the photo of the reel during the process of servicing.

Reel Servicing For Spinning & Baitcast

Hi fellow anglers, I have started reels servicing for Spinning as well as Baitcasting models. I started this service because I realised that an expensive reel that we have invested in needs to be taken care of properly to maximise its life span. I also understand that not many shops provide a full service for the reels as they'd rather you buy a new reel from them.

If you have any reels that require servicing, kindly drop me an email with your name, contact number as well as the reel you are sending in. You can address the email to tbones66@gmail.com. I will be in touch with you as soon as I can.

Which Lure Works?? #1

The question many lure anglers including me ask and yearn for indisputable answers. Sad to say even I don’t have and haven’t found an answer to that. However over the years, I have got a few lures tt were tested and proven. Let me dig back my first ever lure that got hit, the day where my perception of “where got fish want to eat plastic!” vanished to thin air. The memories I brought back from tt outing came together with a lifetime of terminal poison.
Lure Type: Surface / Popper
Brand: Storm
Model: Rattlin’ Chug Bug – Saltwater / CBS08
Colour Code: 1264
Weight: 3/8 Oz / approx. 11g
Length: 3 ¼”
Method: Steady retrieve and unknowingly did what the seasoned anglers refer to as the “pause”. Fish took the lure on the pause. Despite following the regulars’ advice on implementing steady retrieves, we did not succeed to generate a take. Maybe I was lucky as all the contributing factors were set perfectly just for me on that unforgettable day.

Tested and Proven with baby bite marks

Brief Story:   I still remember that day when I was still sceptical towards lure fishing. As usual my purpose for being there was just to spend time with my friends and just to get a hang of casting these plastic plugs. We had lured for a few hours and were close to giving up. I had already given up early and was just casting lazily, joking around and unknowingly did the “pause” on the retrieve. I was talking to my friend when the corner of my eye caught a silver flash surfacing rapidly. Before I could comprehend what I saw, my rod was already bent and reel was screeching. It was my first time handling such a wild and powerful fish what more on lure. I enjoyed the battle with moments of heart stopping acrobatics before finally vanquishing the fish, a juvenile Ms Quennie. Up till today I could never forget that awesome moment and guess I never will!

My First Fish on Lure, Ms. Quennie

Rod used was an 8ft Loomis and Franklin paired with a Ryobi Zauber 3000. Line if I am not mistaken was Fireline 15lb test. It did the job for me back then.
